What is Brillianteen?
Brillianteen is gearing up for its 63rd annual student-produced musical. Youth Showboard Volunteers lead the complete production of the show, from rehearsals to design and performance. Brillianteen introduces Juniors and Seniors to the experience of live theatre. It lets teens develop leadership and team working skills, boosts their confidence, and gives them a greater sense of community and social responsibility. This program creates a non-competitive environment and in the YMCA’s spirit of inclusion, every student who auditions is invited to participate.

The 25 performers in the first ever Brillianteen show premiered in the basement of the McGaw YMCA. Program participation has since grown ten-fold, regularly featuring over 150 performers and over 50 crew members. Brillianteen shows now open to sold-out crowds in the auditorium at Evanston’s King Lab Middle School. Brillianteen alumni now number in the thousands, and include lead players in Broadway musicals and operas around the world.
The 2014 Brillianteen Production of Footloose:
For Parents & Community
Brillianteen could never raise the curtain without the support of community businesses, organizations, and individuals who provide sponsorships and in doing so, put their messages in front of some of Evanston’s most active families and their children.
If you would like to support Brillianteen, you may volunteer to assist backstage or offstage.
