Evanston Pride Youth Program

High school is a time of change and discovery, and can lead to questions about yourself. You may identify yourself as a lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender, or maybe you are simply unsure. You might have questions that you can’t share with friends and family. If you are seeking support in your transition, or would like to help support other teens, join the YMCA Pride Program.

Led by Lawrence Carter at the McGaw YMCA, the YMCA Pride Program can help you learn more about yourself in a safe, confidential, and respectful setting, with the support of your friends and other LGBTQ youth.

If you would like to join us, just walk into the Y and look for the signs to the program meeting space. No need to call ahead or register for anything. The YMCA Pride Program will meet on Monday nights from 6:30p to 8:30p, and is free for everyone.

Junior Counselor-in-Training (JCIT)

Experience what it feels like to run a summer day camp and be a counselor. Working with the Y’s Foster Reading Center summer camp, your teen will learn how to manage conflicts, lead group activities/trips, and develop their own leadership skills.
