McGaw YMCA Announces New Strategic Plan to Better Serve Evanston

The vision for McGaw YMCA’s future is to become a place of belonging for all people at every stage of life. This strategic plan is the roadmap for how the YMCA will arrive at this destination. EVANSTON, IL. The McGaw YMCA has adopted a new strategic plan detailing the organization’s focus areas for the next three years. The goals of the plan include an increase in school readiness and success in Y youth; becoming a leader in promoting mental and physical well-being; addressing nutrition and food security across our community; advocating for bridge housing as part of Evanston’s response to affordable housing; completing the Men’s Residence fundraising and renovation project; and a focus on providing more responsive services to address the ever-changing needs in the Evanston community. Mission Impact Series Panel Discussion on Men’s Residence Program

EVANSTON, IL — On March 4, the McGaw YMCA hosted its second Mission Impact Series live panel discussion, “At Home At 1000 Grove.” Community members, friends, and supporters gathered on Zoom to listen to panelists discuss the critical role of the McGaw’s Men’s Residence program and the vision for expanding supportive housing solutions at the YMCA. The live virtual panel discussion featured McGaw YMCA Leadership, Nicole Woodard, Chief Operating Officer; Roland Fouché, MPA, Senior Director of Residence/Housing; Allie Payne, Advancement Committee Member and Board Member; Peter Morris, Finance Committee Member, and former Board Chair; and Jodi Wickersheimer, Chief Development Officer. McGaw Y Shares Plans for Men’s Residence Renovation Project

EVANSTON, ILLINOIS (FEBRUARY 4, 2022) – The McGaw YMCA announced today plans to renovate and modernize its Men’s Residence facilities. The YMCA is currently completing the design development phase of this plan and seeking leadership gifts to fund the project. Equity and public health, with an emphasis on safety and improved quality of life, are driving this project. The urgency for fundraising and renovation is built around the men who call McGaw Y home. Built in 1930, the McGaw YMCA Men’s Residence Program at 1000 Grove Street is scheduled for a long-overdue transformation with a cost totaling $12.6 million. The renovation and modernization plan will transform the 156 Single Room Occupancy (SRO) units and expand the footprint of shared bathroom and showers to ensure safety, privacy and dignity.
