With just over two months until Camp Echo’s 100th summer on Ryerson Long Lake begins, there are many opportunities to volunteer in Fremont and in Evanston this spring and summer. Adult Work Weekend at Camp Echo The 2024 Adult Spring Work Weekend is scheduled for May3-5.  This year, volunteers can choose to extend their stay before or after the weekend to complete additional projects in preparation for the 100th Anniversary.  Standard work weekend tasks include dock installation, cabin painting, cleaning and organizing program areas, clearing trails and/or woodchipping trails, splitting logs, and more. Lazy Y Tri Fitness Challenge – April-May

  The popular Lazy Y Tri six-week member challenge is back April 1 – May 12! Complete an Ironman-Distance Triathlon at the Y over the course of six weeks! Register for the challenge – FREE to McGaw Y members of all ages! Visit the Fitness Center desk to pick up a tracking card. Complete the 140.6 Ironman miles within six weeks by choosing one of the four options below: Full Ironman: 2.5 Mile Swim, 112 Mile Bike, 26.2 Mile Run Double Run (No Swim): 112 Mile Bike, 52.4 Mile Run Double Swim (No Run): 5 Mile Swim, 112 Mile Bike Custom: One Full Ironman Distance and One Double Distance Sample Format SWIM 2.4 miles: 86 laps in the 6-lane pool BIKE 112 miles: 1 McGaw Y spin class each week of the challenge RUN 26.2 miles: 341 laps around the Sebring-Lewis Center indoor track All finishers who submit their tracking

McGaw YMCA Leaders Chosen to Represent Camp Echo Nationally, Internationally

McGaw Y employees Amiee Woodrow (left) and Bernard Rocca were selected for two YMCA leadership programs to strengthen their respective roles at Camp Echo. EVANSTON, IL – McGaw YMCA proudly announces that employees Bernard Rocca and Amiee Woodrow will represent Camp Echo nationally and internationally in two unique YMCA leadership programs. Bernard Rocca (he/him), Camp Echo Executive Director, has been chosen to lead a cohort of McGaw YMCA leaders through the YMCA Annual Giving Academy. This year-long program equips YMCA leaders across the nation with essential fundraising skills in support of the Y mission. Participants learn best practices and strategies to develop successful fundraising programs, focusing on areas like year-round planning, major gift cultivation, stewardship, and data-driven donor engagement. Bernard is one of 77 YMCA leaders nationwide selected to lead their association’s engagement in the Academy. He plans to use this experience to continue building upon Camp Echo’s strong history
