McGaw YMCA Celebrates 140 Years with Y140 Party

EVANSTON, IL. – The McGaw YMCA is turning 140, and the community is invited to celebrate at the Y140 Party on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 7:00–10:00 PM in the McGaw YMCA Sebring-Lewis Center. Presented by Northwestern University, this 21+ fundraising event blends the sophistication and style of past McGaw Y Galas with the energy and nostalgia of its iconic Y Parties for the ultimate “night in the Town” experience. Evanston residents halfway through 4,100-mile bike journey to raise awareness for McGaw YMCA Men’s Residence

But his latest ride has a special purpose. Metz and his wife, Noreen Edwards, set off on 4,100 miles of the TransAmerica Trail in August to raise awareness about the capital campaign to renovate McGaw YMCA Men’s Residence. The couple is about halfway through their journey — Edwards’ first long distance biking trip — and the McGaw YMCA campaign has reached half of its $22.5 million goal. The two chose the TransAmerica Trail for their awareness campaign because it was the longest, Edwards said.
