The intrepid Evanston cyclists expect to reach Yorktown, Virginia, on Sunday, bookending a journey that began at Oregon’s Pacific coast in August. At its annual fundraising event, the Democratic Party of Evanston honored Monique Parsons with the Abner J. Mikva Award.  EVANSTON, IL — At its annual fundraising event on November 9, the Democratic Party of Evanston honored Monique Parsons, President and CEO of the McGaw YMCA, as this year’s recipient of the Abner J. Mikva Award. Each year, the award recognizes community members and volunteers whose exceptional contributions reflect the progressive values the organization promotes.   Parsons was selected from a distinguished group of nominees for her dedication to serving the Evanston community. Through her volunteer service as vice president of the Evanston Township High School District 202 Board of Education and her leadership at the Y, Parsons has worked tirelessly to empower youth and promote equity in Evanston.
