Making Camp Affordable
We provide an accessible experience to all who would like to enjoy Camp Echo by providing financial support through Sliding–Scale Fee Assistance. Camp Echo awards over 200 scholarships each summer on a first-come, first-served basis. Fee assistance is awarded on a sliding scale ranging from 15% to 90%.
To apply for Fee Assistance, check the box on the camper application and submit a copy of your most recent Federal 1040 tax form. This form can be submitted via email, fax, or delivered to us in person at the Camp Echo office. The level of assistance offered is based on your annual income and the number of people in your household. Once enrolled or wait listed you will be charged half the deposit, $50 or $25 (waitlist).
To qualify for fee assistance the camper must be a member of the McGaw YMCA. The membership must be valid from the time of registration through the session at camp. The membership requirement is waived for families eligible for benefits through Illinois Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP). Campers are eligible to receive fee assistance for one youth program each summer. You may also apply for fee assistance for Family Camp even if one or more campers receive a scholarship for a summer session.
We can provide families an “estimation of their camp fee” over the phone so that a general idea of the cost of camp is available. The level of assistance will be communicated officially via email of confirmation once the required documentation has been received. If the fee assistance amount offered does not meet your needs, please contact us.
