Camp Echo Everywhere

Campers, staff, and alumni often say that they are their best selves when they are at camp. So, why not try to make the rest of the world a bit more like camp so that we can all be our best selves more often!

While most of us are home from work and school, the Camp Echo team is providing some resources via our website, email, and social media. Our goal is to make every day a bit more fulfilling and fun, while encouraging greater connectivity and growth while we are staying home and staying safe. We call this “Camp Echo Everywhere” and we hope you join in on the fun! Down below you can find some more information on our staples to Camp Echo Everywhere and any additional resources we think might be helpful!

Please don’t forget to share your Camp Echo Everywhere moments on social media with #CampEchoEverywhere or check in to see what others are sharing! We post content all the time that keeps the Spirit alive so follow along if you can!

CAMP AT HOME
MORNING MUSIC
During breakfast clean-up every morning, we play three songs on our Dining Hall sound system to get the energy up for the day. There is truly nothing quite like 300 people singing and dancing to start the day.

Check out today’s Morning Music playlist!

Try playing these at the breakfast table or around your home to get the day off to a spirited start!

MORNING REFLECTION
Every morning at camp, we share a thought for the day. This could be a poem, a story, a skit, or anything else that gives the camp community space to reflect individually and together in nature. Tune in each day on our Instagram and Facebook page for a morning reflection, or a thought for the day from someone in the Echo community, or do your own at home! At home, this could be watching a brief YouTube video, reading a children’s book aloud, telling a story from your life that caused you to learn about yourself and the world.
SASKA/SELF CARE
Saska is a great self-care and rest time at camp every day, taken immediately following lunch. Take a nap, or at least get some peace and quiet, for an hour each day after lunch. Reading, writing, listening to some quiet music, or just being somewhere quiet gives us all the break we need to make the most of the rest of our day.
TAPS TALK
One of the most meaningful moments of the Camp Echo day is Taps Talk, a moment of reflection at the end of our action-packed days.

The Taps Talk ambiance usually starts with counselors lighting a scented candle in the middle of the room and giving campers a chance to settle into bed before starting Taps Talk with Miracle Moments. Miracle Moments are moments stand out from the day and made them laugh, smile, proud, or just plain happy! Each camper will share their Miracle Moment and then the counselors will ask a question tailored to the group and focus of the day. The questions range from hilarious to serious, always focusing on creating a comfortable space for sharing with peers.

Here are some sample Taps Talk questions:

  1. What is something about yourself that you are really proud of?
  2. Who is your role model?
  3. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
  4. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
  5. Share an experience when you were really responsible today.
  6. If you could be any animal, what animal would you be and why?
  7. What will you do to make tomorrow an even better day?
  8. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
  9. What was something you did today that you have never done before?
  10. What is something you appreciate or like about the person next to you?
