Camp Echo Home / Packing

Packing

Camp Echo takes pride in offering a traditional, and rustic, summer camp experience. The packing list reflects what is needed to ensure every camper has what they need to enjoy their experience to the fullest. Included is a list of what not to bring, which includes all items that are not allowed at Camp Echo. Click here to view the packing list

Cameras
Digital Cameras are allowed in all Camp Echo programs. We want campers to be able to document the fun there are having at Camp Echo. When in a small program setting like a teen or trip program, we ask that the campers ask the group if all campers feel comfortable with being photographed and recorded.

We do understand that cameras can be a distraction from activities. Staff have the ability to confiscate a camera or video device if the device is being used irresponsibility.

Clothing Labels
It is important that all personal items and clothing be labeled with full name or first initial and last name! Labeled clothing items are easier to return to your camper or family. You can view and buy clothing labels on your CampInTouch account.
Laundry
Please send enough clothing for the entire duration of the session. We will send laundry to town for campers participating in layover. The charge for doing a load of laundry is included in the layover fee. We will do laundry during the session for campers who contract poison ivy or who have bathroom accidents at no extra cost.
Shipping Luggage
You may ship your luggage to Camp Echo before the session if you don’t live in the Chicago area. Please contact Sarah Cort to confirm and to provide more information on this process
Spending Money on Trips
On our trips all costs are covered and included in your program fees. Participants are provided all meals including during travel and a souvenir. Spending money is not necessary, and we do not recommend more than $20.00 per two weeks.
Lost & Found
Lost & Found items are collected from all over camp and brought to the Dining Hall daily. Items with names on them are easily returned. Items without names are more difficult to return and are often never returned or claimed. It is important that all personal items and clothing be labeled with full name or first initial and last name! Only labeled items are returned to the Camp Echo Office at the McGaw YMCA and parents are notified by phone. Items not labeled stay at camp – if you believe an unlabeled item was left at camp, email us at echoinfo@mcgawymca.org.  We will hold lost and found items for up to one session. Unclaimed lost and found items will be disposed or donated to charity.
