A Century in the Making: Register for Camp Echo’s 100th Anniversary Weekend

Join Camp Echo supporters for a historic celebration weekend September 20-22.  FREMONT, MI – McGaw YMCA’s Camp Echo invites the community to register for its highly anticipated 100th Anniversary culminating event scheduled for September 20-22. Spend the weekend at Camp Echo to commemorate a century of cherished memories and community spirit. This historic gathering will have something for everyone, whether attendees are seasoned campers, alumni, volunteers, former staff, or new to the camp experience. Sample activities include camp tours, peninsula games, coffee and conversation, Tap Talks, and campfires with a mix of songs, skits, and stories spanning generations. Attendees can choose to stay on-site in yurts or cabins or select a more rustic experience by bringing their own tents. The cost for celebration weekend ranges from $80 to $120 per person for on-site housing, and $40 to $60 per person for on-site tent or off-site housing, which participants arrange themselves. A […]

Camp Echo Executive Director Bernard Rocca accepted the tribute from Michigan State Representative Joseph Fox. FREMONT, MI. – McGaw YMCA’s Camp Echo proudly received a Special Tribute from the State of Michigan commemorating its 100th anniversary. This prestigious recognition highlights Camp Echo’s significance as one of the nation’s longest-standing YMCA camps, celebrating its century-long commitment to creating unforgettable summer camp experiences for generations of children and families. The tribute was presented at Camp Echo on May 25 by State Representative Joseph Fox, who serves Michigan’s District 101 where the camp is located. Camp Echo Unveils Expanded Dining Hall Deck

The Camp Echo Dining Hall deck extension will help transform the camp dining experience.  FREMONT, MI.  – McGaw YMCA is thrilled to announce the completion of Camp Echo’s Dining Hall extension just in time for Summer 2024. The addition of the new East Deck marks the first expansion of the historic Dining Hall and coincides with Camp Echo’s 100th-year anniversary. “The expansion of our Dining Hall highlights our commitment to blending tradition with progress during our centennial year,” said Bernard Rocca, Executive Director of Camp Echo. “We’re excited to offer a more spacious and flexible dining experience, ensuring every camper feels welcomed and valued.” During the Family Camp session held over Memorial Day Weekend, the inaugural group of campers experienced the Dining Hall extension firsthand, even using the new fireplace for closing ceremonies due to rain.
