The Camp Echo Dining Hall deck extension will help transform the camp dining experience.  FREMONT, MI.  – McGaw YMCA is thrilled to announce the completion of Camp Echo’s Dining Hall extension just in time for Summer 2024. The addition of the new East Deck marks the first expansion of the historic Dining Hall and coincides with Camp Echo’s 100th-year anniversary. “The expansion of our Dining Hall highlights our commitment to blending tradition with progress during our centennial year,” said Bernard Rocca, Executive Director of Camp Echo. “We’re excited to offer a more spacious and flexible dining experience, ensuring every camper feels welcomed and valued.” During the Family Camp session held over Memorial Day Weekend, the inaugural group of campers experienced the Dining Hall extension firsthand, even using the new fireplace for closing ceremonies due to rain. McGaw YMCA Hosts Community Day with Camp Echo Fest

Free and open to the public, the Y’s Community Day on April 27 will feature activities for everyone including Camp Echo favorites. EVANSTON, IL – The McGaw YMCA is gearing up to host an exciting Community Day featuring Echo Fest on Saturday, April 27, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. The event will take place at 1000 Grove Street in Evanston and is open to the public free of charge. Community Day is a great opportunity to explore the YMCA’s facilities and experience a range of activities for all ages. Adults can participate in group fitness demo classes led by our expert instructors, with options including Gentle Yoga, Hip-Hop Dance Fitness, and Muay Thai. Families can enjoy fun activities like the Family Fun Gym and Family swim. As part of the festivities, attendees can participate in Echo Fest to celebrate Camp Echo’s 100th anniversary. With just over two months until Camp Echo’s 100th summer on Ryerson Long Lake begins, there are many opportunities to volunteer in Fremont and in Evanston this spring and summer. Adult Work Weekend at Camp Echo The 2024 Adult Spring Work Weekend is scheduled for May3-5.  This year, volunteers can choose to extend their stay before or after the weekend to complete additional projects in preparation for the 100th Anniversary.  Standard work weekend tasks include dock installation, cabin painting, cleaning and organizing program areas, clearing trails and/or woodchipping trails, splitting logs, and more.
