Under the supervision of the Youth and Family Engagement Coordinator or designated supervisor, this position is responsible for high quality care for children from the ages of 6 weeks old to 10 years of age – staff to child ratios, child safety, and child development. Staff support strong parent communication and building a community with children and parents. This position requires morning, evening, and Saturday hours. The Building Services staff (Grade 4) reports to the Manager, Building Services or other assigned supervisor and must be able to operate independently. As part of the Y’s building services team this position is mainly responsible for the corrective actions and repairs to keep the facility in good operating condition. In addition, requires maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, pool knowledge and decision-making abilities. Will provide support to outside vendors and may participate in safety inspections. This position may include early mornings, late evenings and/or weekend days. The staff and members will be surveyed periodically to assess the cleanliness, safety and timely repairs of the designated work areas. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the swim instructor delivers the YMCA swim lesson curriculum in group swim lessons and private/semi-private swim lessons. The swim instructor will be responsible for building strong and confident swimmers by creating opportunities that build a sense of achievement and ensure their safety in and around water.
