EVANSTON, IL – The McGaw YMCA announced the election of seven new members to its Board of Directors during its 139th Annual Meeting on December 10. These community-focused individuals join a dedicated volunteer board that helps guide the nonprofit’s strategic direction and efforts to strengthen the community. Elected by the McGaw Y membership, the following individuals will serve three-year terms: Denise Barreto, Chief Equity and Engagement Officer, Chicago Transit Authority Peter Braithwaite, Director of Procurement Diversity and Community Engagement, Northwestern University Carrie Charles, Financial Consultant Mary Finn, retired administrator, Northwestern University Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences Marlee Hendricks, Director of Public Health Administration at Cook County Department of Public Health

Each year, the McGaw YMCA Board of Directors nominates a new cohort of individuals to serve on the Board and the Membership of the McGaw YMCA votes to elect new board members during the virtual Board Election. The proposed slate is listed below. This year’s virtual Board Election will be held December 2 – 9. Current McGaw Y members will receive an email at 8:00 a.m. (CDT) on Monday, December 2, with a link to the virtual ballot to cast their vote.  The polls will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 9. The Board election results will be shared at the Annual Meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the McGaw YMCA Chinnock Lounge.
