Community Day at the Y: Event Recap

On Saturday, January 7, McGaw YMCA welcomed members of the community with an afternoon filled with tours, demonstrations, and activities.  The McGaw YMCA celebrated its commitment to strengthening community with its first Community Day of 2023 on January 7. Members of the Evanston community were able to explore the YMCA for free and enjoy demo classes of some of our most popular Group Fitness classes like Zumba®, Indoor Cycling, Step Aerobics, and more.  Community Days are hosted at the Y on select dates throughout the year. Community Days provide a fun-filled day for community members to try the Y for free. This is also a great time for McGaw YMCA members to bring their friends to sample all the Y has to offer! Register for the McGaw YMCA Indoor Triathlon

Challenge yourself to reach the next level with the Y’s Indoor Triathlon on Sunday, March 12!  The McGaw Y Indoor Triathlon offers a spin on the traditional triathlon. Participants will compete based upon distance completed in the allotted time:  10-minute swim  20-minute bike  15-minute run This is a perfect opportunity for beginners, weekend warriors, and those preparing for outdoor triathlon season!  DATE: Sunday, March 12  LOCATION: McGaw YMCA, 1000 Grove Street, Evanston, IL 60201    AGE GROUPS: Adults 18+; Youth ages 11-17  TIMES: Adults: 60-minute waves between 8:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. Youth 60-minute waves at 12:00 p.m., 12:15 p.m., or 12:30 p.m.  FACILITIES: 6-Lane Pool (approx. 80 degrees), Keiser indoor bikes, treadmills  Prizes will be awarded for multiple ages and recreational divisions.   Registration information  Register early to secure your preferred wave start time!  Fee: $35.00 (non-refundable) Registration is required and limited to the first 60 participants who register

Summer Day Camp Priority Registration Begins January 2

  EVANSTON, IL. – Find your adventure at a McGaw YMCA Summer Day Camp this summer! The Y is one of the largest providers of summer day camp programs in Evanston. Kids make new friends and have tons of fun as they explore new adventures each day. Registration opens soon for the 2023 Summer Day Camp season and will happen in a phased approach. Summer Day Camp (Rising Grades 1-5) At McGaw YMCA’s Summer Day Camp, kids entering grades 1-5 explore the outdoors, develop new skills, and build relationships that last a lifetime. The Y provides unforgettable experiences that incorporate a variety of choice-based enrichment activities such as weekly field trips, swimming, archery, fishing, arts & crafts, sports, group games, team building, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and more!
