The Y’s Head Start Preschool program inspires curiosity and learning as well as prepares children for kindergarten. The program features a curriculum focused on Kindergarten Readiness, Social Emotional Learning, and Creative Learning. Our teachers build on knowledge through Focus Areas of Development, enrichment activities, stories, and exploration in the community. Family members are included as valued partners in supporting their children’s learning and growth.

Social-emotional growth is supported so that each child has the confidence to explore, learn, play, and build healthy relationships with their peers while developing a sense of independence and preparing for kindergarten. Daily schedules include visits to our large-motor spaces, enrichment classes, and opportunities to learn through exploration.

Participants enjoy: 

• Breakfast, lunch and two snacks 
• Outdoor and indoor play 
• Field trips to explore music, art, dance, and STEAM

Head Start is open on all regular District 65 school days.

Ages: 3-5
Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Optional Extended Hours: 7:00-9:00 a.m. and 3:00-6:00 p.m.

Program Fee: 6+ hours of care for no / low cost - enrollment for this program is based on family income.
