Summer Day Camp
Summer 2020 Update
Thank you for your interest in Summer Day Camp! We are busy planning an exciting summer where campers can reconnect with friends, explore nature and enhance their creativity through a variety of enrichment experiences.
In partnership with Evanston/Skokie District 65 and the City of Evanston, we are excited to announce Day Camp will be held at Dewey School and we are planning for the start of camp to be July 6th!
We are following the State of Illinois Day Camp guidelines and the American Camping Association (ACA) in order to provide a safe and healthy environment. Here are some policies and procedures we are updating in order to maintain the health and safety of our campers and staff:
- New drop-off/Pick-up procedure
- Smaller class sizes
- Increased cleaning and sanitizing protocols
- Implement staff and camper health checks
- Eliminate large group activities and gatherings
- Innovative indoor and outdoor activities that support social distancing
We will have an updated Parent Handbook available soon. It will include all the new policies and procedures for day camp, including how to prepare for the first day. Including how to prepare for the first day. Please reach out to Andrea Hillsamer, School Age Program Director, with any questions you have.
What is McGaw YMCA Day Camp?
A fun, exciting and safe community where kids explore the outdoors, develop new skills, and build relationships that last a lifetime. We promise unforgettable experiences that incorporate a wide variety of choice-based “camptivities,” such as archery, fishing, arts & crafts, sports, games, drama, science, swimming, field trips and more.
Our day camp is a flexible option for families. We know that organizing summer schedules can be challenging, so we made camp registration convenient: register for the full summer or go week by week; extended hours are included. We will engage your child in camp for a little or as long as you would like.
Please note that the age groups we accept have changed! We only permit children who have completed kindergarten in the 2019-2020 school year (rising 1st graders) through current 5th graders for the 2019-2020 school year (rising 6th graders).
This change is based on our continued dedication to maintain and improve the quality of our Summer Day Camp program.
