Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

The assistant teacher is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as a part of a teaching team. The assistant teacher works with the classroom team to plan, implement, as well as conduct age-appropriate activities in accordance with specified program standards that may include, DCFS, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAYEC), Early Childhood Environment Scale (ECERS), Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and McGaw YMCA operational policies.

This position requires active participation with other members of the teaching team, and parents to assess and address the needs of individual children and ensure that the child’s and family’s needs are supported.

Salary Range: $15.00- $16.50 hourly

Department: Children’s Center

Employment Type: Full-time

Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, 7- or 8-hour days.

Experience/Education/Certification Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, or equivalent subject from an accredited institution preferred. CDA accepted and high school diploma required.
  • One to two years of experience in a child care position.
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills to convey information clearly and informatively.
  • Works effectively in a team-orientated, collaborative environment and builds positive relationships with children, staff, and parent.
