The Head Start Teacher is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as a part of a teaching team. The Head Start Teacher works with the classroom team to plan, implement, as well as conduct age-appropriate activities in accordance with specified program standards that may include, DCFS, Head Start, and McGaw YMCA operational policies. This position requires active participation with other members of the teaching team, and parents to assess and address the needs of individual children and ensure that the child’s and family’s needs are supported.
Salary Range: $41,600 – $48,600 annually

Employment Type: Full-Time Salaried – Non-exempt
Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or 10:15 a.m. – 6:15 p.m.
Experience/Education/Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, or equivalent subject from an accredited institution preferred. An Associate Degree and enrolled in an Early Childhood Bachelor program accepted.
- Two years of experience in a teaching or childcare position.
- Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills to convey information clearly and informatively with parents and staff.
- Works effectively in a team-orientated, collaborative environment and builds positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
