McGaw YMCA is looking for an assistant instructor for our growing youth recreational karate program. We are looking for individuals who are energetic, enthusiastic, and motivated to work with young children ages 3-13 with a preference for candidates with experience supporting karate programming for ages 3-6.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement a lesson plan that meets the needs of the students and the teacher
- Create a fun and safe learning environment for all students
- Provide guidance and feedback to students while maintaining a positive and encouraging atmosphere
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom consistent with McGaw YMCA policies and procedures
- Participate in class supervision as needed by the Lead Instructor
Salary Range: $40.00 per hour
Department: Swim, Sports, Play
Employment Type: Part-time Hourly – Non-Exempt
Days/Hours: Tuesdays, from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., with the possibility of extending to 7:00 p.m.
Experience/Education/Certification Requirements:
- 3+ years of martial arts experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with children
- Ability to build rapport with children
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills
- Energetic and energetic
- Excellent physical strength and stamina
