Building Services 4

The Building Services staff (Grade 4) reports to the Manager, Building Services or other assigned supervisor and must be able to operate independently. As part of the Y’s building services team this position is mainly responsible for the corrective actions and repairs to keep the facility in good operating condition. In addition, requires maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, pool knowledge and decision-making abilities. Will provide support to outside vendors and may participate in safety inspections. This position may include early mornings, late evenings and/or weekend days. The staff and members will be surveyed periodically to assess the cleanliness, safety and timely repairs of the designated work areas. The overall goal is to improve member satisfaction when it comes to cleanliness and safety in our facilities. It is our highest priority that at all times our staff is courteous, pleasant and cooperative to our staff and members.

Salary Range: Starting at $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Employment Type: Full-time Hourly Non-Exempt

Days/Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, with some flexibility required

Experience/Education/Certification Requirements:

  • Strong work ethic and detail oriented
  • Able to listen and then follow directions
  • Conscience of their surroundings with a focus on safety
  • Basic computer proficiency for work orders, time and attendance, and email communication
  • 3-5 years previous plumbing, electrical and/or carpentry work
  • Certifications in plumbing, electrical and/or HVAC preferred
  • Certified Pool Operator certified or within 3 months of hire
  • Must be CPR/FA/AED certified within 3 months of hire
