Camp Echo Early Registration Begins November 21

EVANSTON, IL. – McGaw YMCA’s Camp Echo in Fremont, Michigan, is an experience like none other. Campers of all ages and identities come away with new skills, confidence and friendships that broaden their perspectives and strengthen their character. Registration opens soon for the 2023 summer camp season and will happen in a phased approach.

Youth Camps (Traditional, Teens, & Trips)

Parents have trusted Camp Echo for generations. Campers entering grades 3-8 attend Traditional Camp to make new friends, explore the outdoors, and participate in challenging camp activities that appeal to a wide range of interests. Teen programs at Camp Echo have been carefully crafted to offer progressive challenges and leadership growth opportunities for teens entering 9th – 11th grades. Adventure Trips are designed to provide unforgettable, life-changing experiences for teens entering 7th – 12th grades. Youth camps run June 11 to Aug. 11, 2023, with options varying by program.

New for Summer 2023:

  • Simultaneous 1-week and 2-week Traditional Camp opportunities
  • Adventure trip opportunities for 7th and 8th graders
  • Specialized opportunities for 9th graders
  • Off-site excursions for teen programs
  • More all-gender cabin opportunities

Youth Camp Early Registration Lottery:
November 21 at 12 PM CST to November 30 at 12 PM CST

The early registration lottery for youth camp programs is not first come, first served. The 10-day application window will be open for all campers (returning and new) to submit applications anytime between Monday, November 21 at 12:00 p.m. CST and Wednesday, November 30 at 12:00 p.m. CST. After the registration window closes, Camp Echo staff will randomly order and manually process applications received in three waves:

  1. 2022 Campers and Siblings
  2. McGaw YMCA Members
  3. New Campers

During this initial window, campers are limited to two programs total. This includes a limit of one adventure trip and leadership program (though teens may enroll in one of each). All campers who apply during the first window will be notified of enrollment by Friday, December 9, 2022.

Youth Camp Open Enrollment begins December 15 at 12 PM CST

Open enrollment for youth camp programs begins Thursday, December 15 at 12:00 p.m. CST and will remain open until programs are full. Unlike early registration, open enrollment is first come, first served.

Family Camp

Camp Echo offers both long weekend and week-long camps to give families a place to relax, laugh, play, and grow together in the beautiful, peaceful woods of Michigan. Camp Echo will open registration in January for family camp programs. To learn more about Family Camp, visit the Family Camp page.

Family Camp Early Registration Lottery:
January 12 at 12 PM CST to January 19 at 12 PM CST

The early registration lottery for Family Camp is not first come, first served. The one-week application window will be open for all campers (returning and new) to submit applications anytime between Thursday, January 12 at 12:00 p.m. CST and Thursday January 19 at 12:00 p.m. CST.

After the registration window closes, Camp Echo staff will randomly order and manually process applications received in three waves:
