McGaw Y Announces New Leaders to Executive Team

McGaw YMCA announced the names of two individuals who will hold key leadership positions. 

EVANSTON, IL – The McGaw YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the Evanston community, announced today that it has appointed two new leaders to its executive leadership team.

Nancy Owens has been named Chief Financial Officer 

Nancy joins the McGaw YMCA from the YMCA of the USA (Y-USA), where she retired as V.P./Chief Financial Officer in 2022. Nancy was elected to the McGaw YMCA Board of Directors in August 2022, resigning from the Board in September to step into the interim CFO position at McGaw Y. Her appointment to CFO became official in January 2023.

During her time with Y-USA, Nancy provided leadership to manage its resources responsibly by overseeing financial plans, policies and relationships. Her portfolio also includes the YMCA Employee Benefits Plan, Y-USA’s facilities, and Strategic Sourcing. She was staff liaison to the Audit/Finance Committee and the Investment Committee and was the Assistant Treasurer of the Y-USA National Board of Directors. Nancy also represented Y-USA as a member of the board of directors of 501c Agencies Trust, an unemployment trust that offers YMCAs and other nonprofits an alternative to funding state unemployment taxes. Prior to joining Y-USA, Nancy served as Senior V.P. and Chief Financial Officer of PGI, Inc., where she was responsible for the finance, human resources, and information technology departments.

Linda Tucker has been named Chief Development Officer 

Linda is a seasoned fundraising and communications professional with over 25 years of experience in fundraising and Public Relations, including serving as the Executive Director of the Motorola Foundation, Group Manager for the McDonald’s account at a leading Advertising and PR firm, the Capital Campaign Director for the Salvation Army’s $106 Million Capital Campaign for The Chicago Ray and Joan Kroc Center and Sr. Development Director at The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.  

Linda has worked in various non-profit fields which includes healthcare, immigrant rights, education, and youth advocacy. She has extensive experience in major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, strategic fundraising, board of directors’ engagement, public relations, and branding. Most recently Linda served as the Director of Development and Communications for the James B. Moran Center for Youth Advocacy where she managed the fundraising communications function. She assumed the role of CDO at McGaw YMCA on February 13, 2023.
