EVANSTON, IL — At its annual fundraising event on November 9, the Democratic Party of Evanston honored Monique Parsons, President and CEO of the McGaw YMCA, as this year’s recipient of the Abner J. Mikva Award. Each year, the award recognizes community members and volunteers whose exceptional contributions reflect the progressive values the organization promotes.
Parsons was selected from a distinguished group of nominees for her dedication to serving the Evanston community. Through her volunteer service as vice president of the Evanston Township High School District 202 Board of Education and her leadership at the Y, Parsons has worked tirelessly to empower youth and promote equity in Evanston. Her efforts exemplify both the spirit of the award and the mission of the McGaw YMCA.
The award was presented during the Democratic Party of Evanston’s fall fundraising celebration, which also honored additional community members and featured remarks from local elected officials.
