McGaw YMCA President/CEO Monique Parsons celebrates a successful Day of Giving.
EVANSTON, IL – McGaw YMCA celebrated the spirit of generosity and community connection on May 7 during its 2026 YMCA Day of Giving, held as part of the organization’s 140th Anniversary celebration.
In just 24 hours, more than 100 donors came together to support McGaw YMCA’s life-changing programs and services. Thanks to a generous matching gift, every contribution was doubled, unlocking the full $15,000 match and raising more than $34,000.
Colorful pinwheels were planted in the Garden of Gratitude on the McGaw Y front lawn to recognize each act of generosity. The vibrant display symbolized the collective impact of every donation and the brighter futures being created across Evanston through YMCA programs, including high-quality child care and early education, swim lessons, summer camps, health and wellness programs, social activities for seniors, and safe, affordable housing for men.

Generosity takes root: Over 100 donors supported YMCA’s Day of Giving, represented by pinwheels in the Garden of Gratitude on the front lawn.
“We’re inspired by the way our community continues to show up with such generosity and purpose for our Day of Giving,” said Monique Parsons, President/CEO of the McGaw YMCA. “The Garden of Gratitude is a powerful reflection of that spirit; each pinwheel represents the people and connections that bring our mission to life. As we mark 140 years of the YMCA in Evanston, we’re both celebrating how far we’ve come and looking ahead to the impact we can continue to make together.”
Funds raised through the Day of Giving directly support the YMCA’s work in Evanston, helping local families, children, and individuals thrive. Every dollar donated stays in the community and helps the Y provide programs that bring people together to connect to their potential, purpose, and each other.
McGaw YMCA extends its heartfelt thanks to the donors, members, staff, and neighbors who made the 2026 Day of Giving a resounding success.
