AQUATICS CENTER SAFETY PROTOCOLS – LAP SWIM
As of 04/25/2022
McGaw has put careful thought and planning into the return of our swimming options. Following guidance from the CDC, DCEO, and the City of Evanston Health Department, we’ve modified our pool policies, practices, and procedures to ensure a safe and fun experience for every swimmer. Here’s what you can expect for your return to the Aquatics Center:
LAP SWIM PROTOCOLS:
- The 6 Lane pool reservations will be open to two swimmers per lane.
- The 4 Lane Pool reservations will be open to two swimmers per lane in Lanes 2 and 3 only, and open to one swimmer per lane in Lanes 1 and 4.
- Reservations can be made for one (1) 30-minute swim, or for two (2) back-to-back reservations that equal one 60-minute swim.
- At this time, only current, active McGaw YMCA Members ages 14 and above may make lane reservations.
- Swimmers will enter their lanes at opposite sides of the pool and split the lane down the middle. No circle swim allowed.
- Swimmers must exit the pool at the end of their swim reservation to allow the next swimmer to enter on time. Masks must be put back on once you exit the water.
- Space is limited. When a timeslot is full, swimmers may register for the waitlist. Reservations open seven days prior.
ARRIVAL, DEPARTURE & ON-DECK POLICIES
- Swimmers will enter through the Member Entrance in the alley on the West side of the building. We ask that all swimmers come to deck showered and with their suits on. Please read the most recent information about Locker Rooms here.
- Those with ADA needs or who need assistance will be assigned lanes first.
- We will provide a basket at the end of your lane for your personal belongings. This basket is sanitized before and after your reservation by Aquatics Staff. We recommend placing your belongings in a waterproof bag, as they will need to remain at the space provided by your lane.
- Equipment will be unavailable for use. Please bring your personal equipment if you plan on using it during your workout.
- Use of the starting blocks is not permitted.
- The hot tub is closed.
- Masks required at all times for all staff and participants over the age of 2 except while swimming in the pool. Masks must be put back on once you exit the water.
- All swimmers will exit through the exit nearest the 6-lane pool which leads you to Maple Ave. Swimmers who need an accessible exit may use the Greeting Station elevator that leads to the Member Entrance in the alley.
- No spectators, parents, or coaches are allowed on the pool deck or in the view areas. Only those with a lane reservation will be allowed in the building.
- Swimmers must exit the pool at the end of their swim reservation to allow the next swimmer to enter on time.
