Swimming at the Y helps people thrive—in and out of the water. We offer a wide selection of infant and parent/child swim lessons to school-age and adult swim lessons. Our swim program teaches participants to become confident swimmers as they develop strong techniques, learn water safety and enjoy swimming as a form of exercise. Through swimming lessons, swim teams, lap swimming and more, the Y provides a safe environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
Lap & Recreational Swim
We offer a variety of ways to enjoy the water in our 4-lane (84–86°F) and 6-lane (79–81°F) pools, from lap swim to recreational group swimming opportunities. Certified lifeguards are on duty at all times, and water quality is tested every two hours to ensure the highest standards. Shallow-entry access and an ADA chair lift make it possible for everyone to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of our pools. To reserve your spot in the pool, use the Pools & Swim Time Schedule.
Private Swim Lessons
The Y's private and semi-private swim lessons provide a more personalized learning experience to increase your skills and meet your goals. We offer multiple package options and flexible scheduling.
Swim Lessons
Living in our lakefront community, swimming and water safety skills are a vital part of our mission. The McGaw YMCA’s progressive swim lessons allow your child to move through the most appropriate level of caring instruction at their own pace. Adult lessons are for beginner and intermediate level swimmers.
Swim Club
Swim Club is for advanced swimmers who want to refine their skills in a team environment without the pressure of competing. This fun and flexible program is designed as a recreational pathway for children ready for something more than swim lessons but not ready to commit to our year-round MYST swim team.
Swim Team (MYST)
Want to swim competitively in a fun and positive environment? Join the McGaw YMCA Swim team, or MYST! MYST is focused on developing swimmers ages 5 to 18. Swim team participants improve individual skills while swimming competitively and have opportunities to compete both at the local and national levels. Coaches focus on proper technique while swimmers improve their endurance, learn teamwork, make friends and, most importantly, have fun!
Masters Swimming
McGaw YMCA Masters Swimming is for individuals aged 18 and older. Whether you're looking to maintain your fitness, improve your skills, or compete, our coached swimming workouts are designed to help you achieve your goals. We welcome adults of all skill levels, from casual lap swimmers to competitive swimmers and triathletes.
Training & Certifications
The Y offers lifeguard certification, CPR, and babysitting certification.
