Age Guidelines

To ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience, we have established the following age guidelines for facility use and participation in programs and activities.

Supervising Individuals are defined as registered caregivers, parents/guardians, or family members ages 18 and up who are active McGaw YMCA members. 

Ages 10 and Younger

Supervising Individual is responsible for child and must accompany them at all times unless signed into a Y program such as Kids Club. Children are not allowed to sit in the Fitness Center while their Supervising Individual exercises.

Ages 11-13

Supervising Individual must be on Y property and accessible to child unless signed into a Y program such as a Youth Sports class. Youth members who are between the ages of 11-13 years old and who have completed a Youth Orientation may use the cardio equipment and strength machines in the Fitness Center with a Supervising Individual present. To use the free weights, youth must be at least 14 years of age.

Ages 14 and Older

Open access to the Y and designated areas. All Group Fitness classes are open to members ages 14 and up.
