About Practice Groups
Swimmers are divided into workout groups based on ability and age. The ages shown below are only a general guideline. The primary distinction between the different groups is how much a swimmer will be asked to compete and the structure of the practice environment. It’s important for the health and success of the swimmer to be placed in the appropriate group: if the practice is too demanding or too lax, the swimmer is liable to lose motivation and not improve. Swimmers will be placed into their respective practice group by mutual agreement between the swimmer, his/her guardian, and the coaching staff.
While there is a suggested practice attendance policy for all the groups, we encourage swimmers to swim more frequently when they can. We feel that a minimum of two practices is necessary to see improvement over the course of the season. The Senior Group has a practice attendance policy of 60%, but again, that is only a minimum and swimmers are encouraged to attend more than that if possible.
